hey you Pal!!!
Well! here i am in Salt Lake City! I can hardly believe it! It's so weird to be here, and that i'm on my mission now, like this is it! i've been in the MTC for so long it didn't really feel like i had "started" the mission, but now i'm here. and i love it. we wake up every morning around 615 and work out for half hour. so this is what i see when i walk out of out apartment door in the wee hours of the morn: it is still a tad bit crisp, birds chirping, and BAM!! the Salt Lake Temple is right there infront of me! all lit up! so gorgeous! and the smell of the morning air! i just love it! i was thinking about it as we were running, i wouldn't mind if you and dad dropped by with jeffy before you took him to the MTC, that would actually be even more special! I'm not sure on details yet, but let me know if that is something that you would want. i wish that i could share all of this experience with you! it's just so neat to be here! I find that i get so tired tho during the day. we are standing constantly, and we only get to eat breakfast lunch and dinner. i know that sounds silly, but it's hard eating at 8am, 1pm-2, and then at 7-8pm. especially when i'm used to eating every 2-3 hrs. anywho, no biggy!!! Ü so my new companion and trainer is Sister Yoon. She is from Korea, and has been here about 5 transfers--i think. she is such a sweetie. she is soft spoken and just has a sweet spirit about her. i was really praying to get a good first companion that was going to work hard and follow the rules, and she is just what i need in a first companion--especially being new, and nervous, she makes me feel comfortable and is aware of my needs and doessn't push me too hard when i don't really know the gist of everything. We get along very well. it's so cute cuz she always is like, ohh i'm so proud of you sister! and she always compliments me after we've given a tour, she helps me feel more confident.
So yesterday!!!.......as me and sis. yoon were walking to temple square in the morning, guess who we see strolling along....Elder Perry!! so i got to shake his hand! an apostle of the Lord...right infront of me, talking to me face to face! i just thought that was so grand! he had spoke to us earlier this week at the MTC- so it was neat to see him twice in one week! i thanked him for his words that he and his wife spoke on Tues. and he kinda stopped for a bit and thought, and goes---so that means you must be new if you heard me at the MTC?! and i was like yah! and he goes to my comp. woah! watch out for this one! she's new!!! or she's a greenie! something like that. i can't remember. so yah! i haven't even been here a week and i've been able to shake an apostle's hand! oh and yesterday i did my first presentation of the accoustics at the Tabernacle! I got to stand at the very front in the Tabernacle and drop the pins infront of everyone! it was so special for me, because as i stood up there at the pulpit with the Tabernacle Choir Music being played on the recorder, and just pretended i was a prophet looking out to the whole congregation! how cool! not everyone gets to do that!
There are so many interntaional sisters here, so it's fun to get to associate with them. My old comp. sis. titera- her comp is from The
dominican republic. She is absolutely hilarious!!! Lastnight, Sis. Yoon and I went to visit them in their apt., and she was laying on her bed, and her face was really shiny and greasy looking, and Sis. Yoon goes,"oh sister, why is your face so greasy?" and i'm totallly laughing becuase sis. yoon was so blunt in asking a question, and Sis. Escalante (dom. repulic sister) she's like, " i put menthol on my face because i have a Pimple!!" but imagine it in a funny accent. and then she goes, "DONT Judge me!!" but she pronounced judge like Jodge, and pimple Peemple. too cute!
do you mind if i make a couple of small requests? i'm on my last bottle of lotion, so when you send that box with my watch do you mind going down stairs where all of my stuff is and sending me some lotion>? i think i have just a paper bag from some department store just full of Vanilla scneted stuff. or whatever scent is grand! and if you come across my Gucci perfume in a pink box, that'd be nice too! Ü a lot of the sisters wear scarves here! they are cute! so sis. yoon and i are going to go to walmart today to see if they have any. do you think you could get a copy of my partriarchal blessing from uncle galon? i' don't remember wehre mine is? oh! and do you have Their address? i met a sis. Thomas at the mtc who was really good friends with Aunt Judy and used to sing with her a lot when she lived in pullman with her husband. i can't really think of anything else that i need. sorry to be always asking for things. hope thats ok! thanks for sending the pics of jeff's mission call! that was so fun to look at! there is a sister serving here from Argentina, so it was fun to talk to her and to tell that my bro is going there on his mission.
i hope you got a letter this week from my mission pres. he and his wife are really nice, and he's got a real sense of humor, so that's fun! his wife is VERY fashionable and where really cute clothes, had big diamond rings, and has a Louis Vuitton purse. I envy!! haha! all the sisters feel that she puts us to shame since we are in our bland missionary clothes.. she always greets everyone with a big hug and a kiss on the cheek! i think i'm going to really like them.
well, i've gots to go! love you soooo much! tell me what's going with plans for jeffs mission! please let me know if you have any questions!
my p-days are on sat. for this transfer. so that's when you'll be getting emails from me, and i'll get to write back letters n such. i would love some boots! you said you'll be sending me a measureing tape? i think you can still write me at dear elder if you want me to know something right away that day, you just have to pay for postage, but i still only get to respond on my pday. thanks again mom and dad for everything! i love you so much. Thank you for supporting me through this, it means so much to know that i have such a loving family that is at home praying for me, and working hard for me so tthat i can be here serving the Lord. big hugs and kisses, and ear lobe rubs!!!!
Love, Sis. Harris
p.s. oh yah, thanks for having a normal last name. it's just nice to not have to repronounce our last name when i meet people! haha Ü
