Family!!!
so updates with this new transfer......it's all exactly the same! me and sister yao are together again, in the north zone, same apt.(which is nice, we won't have the stress of moving) so yeah! more mandarin motorcoach tours! we actually had one this morning. 38 people in this tour. mostly from mainland china. such sweet sweet people. they cornered me and each took turns taking pics w/ me! it was funny, i felt like movie star! haha. they are such kind people who are so receptive to the gospel. it just really touched my heart- this one lady, just held the Book of Mormon in her hand, and looked at it, and said, when can the Mormon Missionaries come and see me, how can i get a hold of them. and it is so sad to have to tell them, that they can't- that we don't have missionaries there. and another man said, that he loved it here, and that this was such a wonderful gift that he could learn more about how important families are. he said that i could come and visit China so that i could share this message with everyone there. it was really cute! pray that China will be open to missionaries!
so yesterday, as you know was our transfer conference, and everyone was really excited and nervous for the outbound calls- and Pres. Holmes gets up front and announces that nobody is leaving outbound b/c we need as many sisters here at the square to accommodate the many guests that are coming. so that was a big shock! but it will be good! we need as many of us here for the busy summer season!
it was neat, just this morning- we met a man from Michigan- he was super nice, very funny, and talkative. he'd been on the road traveling since thanksgiving! here was here by himself, had a camera in hand just enjoying himself. it was fun to talk w/ him- he asked if he could have his picture w/ us- and we said yes!- where would you like it? and so he pointed to the New Testament paintings - all of them were of Christ, and he wanted it in front of the "fishers of men" painting, b/c he said he likes boats, and that he had one- well, that led to us just talking about his religious beliefs, and he said that he goes to a Unity spiritual center- where everyone just believes and lives how they feel, and it is all accepted. their center has the bible, the Koran, just everything that people read religiously, and i asked him, well, do you guys have a Book of Mormon there? and he was like, hmm...no. and i was thinking in my head da da daahhhh!!! well, let me share with you how we can get you one! for some reason he said to me that he has such a respect for the Native Americans. and so it was really easy to bridge to the B.O.M.- who the record is of- ancient americans- the indians! and that really sparked his interest- and how Brigham Young was the Superintendent of the indian affairs- so he was impressed w/ that. and he totally referred for the B.O.M. I was just praying inside so hard to let the Spirit be there in conversation, and i could just feel it as I was able to just look him in the eye & testify to him of it. It just felt so good. i'm excited for him to get copy and read it. He said that he's a recovered alcoholic of 30 years. and he asked if we go dancing, and i said no- and sister yao goes" in our apartment!" and i was just shaking my head inside. oh man, we don't share that w/ people! haha- (sometimes for exercise a Tahitian sister does hip dancing) but anyways, he says that he still goes to bars- but doesn't drink, that he is a good example to other people- and he said you can go- and be that good example to others and ever share w/ people about the Book of Mormon! i thought that was neat he would say that- but yeah, no worries, we'll be staying away from the bars. haha.
